Environmental Waters

Laboratory Services

Many activities impact on the quality of our environmental surface and ground waters.  Monitoring our environmental waters is essential to assessing ecosystem stability and ensuring minimal impact as a result of human activities.

Simmonds & Bristow is an industry leader in environmental water monitoring for sensitive fresh and marine environments.

Our qualified consultants can develop monitoring programs aimed at obtaining baseline water quality data and assessing potential impacts.

Our qualified field officers can perform the monitoring, in accordance with the relevant standards and guidelines, to provide independent unbiased samples for analysis. Alternatively sampling kits can be dispatched for our clients use.

Simmonds & Bristow's laboratories are skilled in performing analysis on both fresh and marine environmental waters. Typical parameters include but are not limited to:

  • pH
  • Conductivity
  • Suspended Solids
  • Dissolved Oxygen
  • Biochemical Oxygen Demand
  • Total Oil & Grease
  • Metals; Fe, Al, Cu, Cr, Pb, Ni, Zn (selection depends on the type of potential impact)
  • Nutrients; total nitrogen, total phosphorus, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, TKN, orthoP
  • Coliforms
  • Temperature

Results can be reviewed by our qualified consultants so that any significant change in water quality can be identified and correlated with natural disturbances (heavy rainfall) or avoidable impacts.

If your organisation releases treated or untreated water (process water, wash down water) to a surface water, storm water drain, or onto the land environmental water monitoring should be considered.
