Following the successful completion of Certificate II and III in Water/Wastewater Operations, trainees can enrol in a range of advanced courses offered by Simmonds & Bristow in Water / Wastewater Operations, including the Certificate IV course (NWP40107).
The Certificate IV course offers students the opportunity to advance their understanding of the treatment of water (both potable and wastewater) and also to undertake more in-depth study into the construction and maintenance of sewerage systems and water distribution systems.
In addition, these courses cover a diverse range of elective subjects, including:
- Optimising treatment plant processes and developing tools to solve operational problems
- Improving plant efficiencies in order to reduce operating costs
- Implementing environmental management policies, plans, procedures and programs
- Maintaining, managing and evaluating occupational health and safety
- Developing and reviewing water / wastewater collection management plan
Depending on the individual, these courses can take between three months and two years to complete.
