A major update of the national water industry training package has recently taken place. As of April 2008, the Units of Competency in the NWP01 Water Industry Training Package were superseded by the NWP07 updated version of the Training Package.
After 15 April 2009, no new enrolments are permitted in NWP01 Water Industry Training Package qualifications or courses. A two-year "teach out" period will be allowed for students who have commenced the NWP01 package before this date, with a final completion date for NWP01 as 15 April 2011.
Students and professionals who have completed NWP01 qualification are not required to update their training with NWP07. The NWP01 packages still provide a set of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications; however employers and students may wish to supplement their qualification with NWP07.
