 Simmonds & Bristow are looking for a Training Coordinator. 

Simmonds and Bristow (Est 1965) is a well-recognised Registered Training Organisation, environmental and engineering consulting service, based at Rocklea in Brisbane. We service the water and environmental industry throughout Australia, with special emphasis in looking after small and remote communities, from mines, industry and resorts, to rural towns and indigenous communities.

We are looking for an experienced, efficient and well-rounded secretary to join our Admin team to provide high quality administrative and clerical support to our team.

This role covers a wide scope of activities. Candidates must be able to operate efficiently within a busy professional office environment.

The position reports to the Office manager and works closely with our Training Services Manager.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Administration support to Training Service department, i.e. SMS (VETtrak) set up and maintenance; data entry of learner activities; AVETMISS data management and upload; prepare training materials; organise trainer’s travel etc;
  • Prepare sales invoices and purchase orders;
  • Support recruitment of relief operators, i.e. publish recruitment ads; review and short list applicants etc;
  • Formatting documents, document control, maintain customer and project database;
  • Assist with implementation and continuous improvement of the company quality and safety system;
  • Other general office administrative functions as required, e.g. answer phone calls, reception duties, collateral of documents etc.

Key Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate must have previous administrative experience, and possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Previous experience in an RTO environment and understanding of RTO standards and QLD state funding schemes would be highly regarded;
  • Experience in ISO standards (ISO 9001 & / or ISO 17025) and WHS standards would be an advantage;
  • Advanced computer skills across the MS Office suite, particularly in Excel and Word;
  • Experience with MYOB Account Right Premier or similar system;
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written;
  • Proactive work ethic and an attention to detail;
  • The ability to work within a small team;
  • The initiative to work with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a mature and calm attitude.

There is no public transport close to our office; so a reliable car will be needed to get to work.

Treatment Plant Operator – Far North Queensland (Full Time)

Simmonds & Bristow are integrated water specialists helping regional, remote and small communities across Australia and the South Pacific make good clean water through the smart use of appropriate technology and the up skilling of people. We service a wide range of clients including mines, industrials, resorts and regional councils.

We are looking for a wastewater treatment plant operator that has experience with activated sludge and direct filtration water treatment for an Island Resort based in Far North Queensland embarking from Cairns.

The ideal candidate will have the following;

  • Certificate III in Water Operations
  • Experience in operating and maintaining a water and wastewater treatment plants
  • High professional standards
  • Be a self-starter
  • The ability to communicate effectively with management and liaise with clients
  • A flexible attitude to work hours
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Ability to follow procedures, and
  • Intermediate computer skills

You must be an Australian resident or citizen and be available for an immediate start.

Casual/Relief Water Industry Operator

Simmonds & Bristow are looking for Experienced Treatment Plant Operators for short and long term contracts

Simmonds & Bristow are an integrated water specialists assisting regional, remote and small communities across Australia and the South Pacific produce potable water and effluent quality of the highest standard. We service a wide range of clients including mines, industrials, resorts and regional councils.

We are looking for Casual and Fixed Term Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators to service sites in the southern hemisphere.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Certificate III in Water and Wastewater Operations, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in operating/maintaining water &/or wastewater treatment plants.
  • Will hold themselves to high professional standards and be a self-starter.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with management and liaise with clients is important, as is a flexible attitude to work hours.
  • Good written and spoken English plus the ability to follow procedures.
  • An Australian resident and be available for an immediate start.
  • Basic computer skills is also an advantage.
