Environmental Engineer

We are seeking an energetic, experienced Environmental Engineer who is dedicated to providing high quality, value for money engineering services to join our team.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will ideally have the following.

Qualification:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, or similar

Knowledge & Experience:

Have demonstrated experience:

  • Water/wastewater treatment plant assessment,
  • Water/wastewater treatment plant operation & design;
  • Assessment of Environmental and water quality;
  • Effluents disposal by irrigation onto pasture, native forest and woodland, steep slopes and rain forest, native grass meadows;
  • Undertake dynamic and food Mass balances;
  • Model and assess sediment and erosion control;
  • Development and assessment of landfill leachate treatment systems and water management plan;
  • Assessment of feedlot wastewater treatment and effluent disposal system;
  • Stormwater management, channel and drainage systems and applications;
  • Develop consultancy, engineering and minor project work BOQ, Scope of Work and Methodology;
  • Undertake engineering research.

Software:

A working knowledge of below software (not limiting to):

  • MEDLI;
  • MUSIC;
  • BIOWIN
  • AutoCAD
  • CAD based design

Along with a positive attitude, great communication skills and eye for detail, interests in water/wastewater treatment and small collection/reticulation systems is ideal.

Previous experience in consulting industry will be a distinct advantage.

Corporate IT System Support Engineer

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT Engineer to join our team. The right candidate will play an essential role in maintaining and improving our company IT system.

The Role

Our team is expanding to support increased business demand and growth, and we are looking for an all-round IT expert to apply their skills in maintaining and enhancing our IT system. The successful applicant will be responsible for installations and investigating, analysing and resolving IT technical issues as required for both software and hardware.

The IT Engineer will report to the Company’s Office Manager but work collaboratively with all levels of internal stakeholders to provide high-quality IT support. External IT consultant is available to support the role for any complex matter and provide leave coverage.

The position will start as part-time with approximately 24 hours per week, preferably every morning Monday to Friday. Shifts and working hours can be negotiated and remain flexible for the right candidate. On-call or call-out may be required from time to time and allowance will be provided to recognise this.

Main Duties of the Role (not limited to the list)

  • Provide technical support onsite and remotely;
  • Monitor, maintain and improve servers, desktops and applications performance;
  • Monitor, maintain and improve existing infrastructure and perform system preventative maintenance;
  • Investigate and implement company new ERP system;
  • Maintain and test company IT Disaster Recovery Plan;
  • Assist external service providers with the development and implementation of new software or hardware project;
  • Monitor daily backups, manage asset database and control software register;
  • Overlook system security;
  • Actively engage in system continuous improvement;
  • Provide explicit instruction, coach and educate end-users.

Who we are looking for

  • Confident individual and able to keep calm under pressure;
  • Analytical minded, able to break down and understand information;
  • Willing to and able to learn new applications quickly and work in a fast-moving environment
  • Have a proactive approach – think ahead and escalate when needed.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant education in IT – Diploma or higher
  • Minimum 3 years similar experience in a corporate environment
  • Advanced understanding of end-user support and Active Directory
  • Sound knowledge of Windows Server, Virtual Server, Exchange systems, LAN, WAN and VPN
  • Excellent knowledge of PC and Laptop hardware and the ability to identify and deal with common faults;
  • Sound knowledge of Office suite
  • Sound knowledge of system security
  • Experience with Goldmine (or similar CRM), MYOB and Moodle (Desired, not necessary)

  • Current Drivers license

Desirable:

  • Holding the Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40110 + requisite additional units), Diploma or above qualification in adult education

Casual/Relief Water Industry Operator

Simmonds & Bristow are looking for Experienced Treatment Plant Operators for short and long term contracts. Simmonds & Bristow are an integrated water specialists assisting regional, remote and small communities across Australia and the South Pacific to produce potable water and effluent quality of the highest standard. We service a wide range of clients including mines, industrials, resorts and regional councils. We are looking for Casual and Fixed Term Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators.

The kinds of places we go:

  • Resorts (in locations warm and cold)
  • Councils (all over Australia, some remote, some not)
  • Industrial sites (all over Australia, some remote, some not)
