Treatment plants are commissioned to test the specifications. To achieve the most predictable and stable operation we bring the plant on-line at a steady and controlled rate.
Through commissioning your new plant we can find and remedy many of the faults inherent in any new plant before handover to your operations team.
This ensures operators can focus on running their plant rather than using their valuable time repairing faults in the system.
S&B can commission its own designs or independently commission other supplier’s Designs and Constructions.
One of our team will be present throughout the commissioning period to oversee all operations and completion of training of your crew.
During treatment plant commissioning, S&B will test and check process hydraulics and performance, as well as equipment and process units, to ensure they meet design specifications and construction/fabrication drawings.
Simmonds & Bristow holds NATA registration to perform SOTR testing, one of the few in Australia with NATA accredited procedures for conducting SOTR testing to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standard.
We have extensive expertise carrying out SOTR testing allowing clients to meet pre-commissioning testing requirements for wastewater treatment plant upgrades and installations.
We issue a NATA certified report detailing the procedure and outcome of the testing.
Testing can include:
Knowing a plant can run on clean water is only part of the commissioning story.
To ensure it can produce clean water and process bugs are resolved, our engineers can process commission your new or refurbished plant before hand over to you.
This ensures that the plant is proven to meet its promised water quality and hydraulic capacity, and you take possession of a plant that is running smoothly.
During process commissioning it is usual for our engineers and trainers to work together to provide you with a fully trained crew.
Comprehensive Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manuals can be produced containing daily, weekly, monthly and annual log sheets for comprehensive operation of the water or sewage treatment plant.
All manufacturers’ maintenance information will be condensed into an easy-to-read format, to enable the operators to perform much of the required maintenance on-site.
The O&M Manual is written in language which complements the training delivered and takes into account the operators’ level of understanding of the plant and treatment processes.
Simmonds & Bristow’s engineers provide an engineering process design review and an Engineers Certificate for the proposed treatment plant.
The certificate will be signed off by our Principal Engineer, a Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland.
The Engineers Certificate certifies the process is fit for purpose, and will achieve process outputs such as flow and water quality based on design details.
Our comprehensive commissioning report gives you a detailed insight into limitations of the new plant, while confirming that the plant is capable of achieving the desired performance.
The report validates the process and confirms all unit equipment is in compliance with the design specifications under normal operation with raw water or live sewage.
It includes an Engineers Certificate stating that the plant meets all requirements of the contract for consideration by the superintendent.
The Commissioning Report and Engineers Certificate is typically provided 2-4 weeks after final analytical results confirm the successful four week “Demonstration of Compliance” period.
