Let’s explore the options together & check out our easy quiz.
When finding the right training for you, a key factor is always the delivery method for the course.
The standard options for most training is either online or classroom-based, but in the water industry, this is not always practical.
We have several solutions that are flexible enough to be catered to your needs. So let’s go through them and uncover how they might help you.
Online Learning
Online Learning, also known as Independent Learning (for employer-sponsored learners) or Individual Learning (for individually-sponsored learners), is the online, self-paced option for training. This method is where learners gain access to the course material to complete at their pace. Trainers are available for support and check-in periodically to check progress.
Virtual Classroom
The Virtual Classroom method of training is something we introduced throughout 2020 to keep training going amidst lockdowns. This method involves virtual meetings between trainers and groups of learners via teams, zoom etc.
Face-to-Face Training
While others might call this classroom-based training, our Face-to-Face delivery method involves our trainers travelling to you to deliver training on your site. Learners attend both theory and practical sessions in week-long blocks with an S&B trainer. This training method has the added benefit of contextualisation to the workplace, with learners training entirely on their own facilities.
This delivery method is ideal for multiple students, with packaged pricing based on a minimum of 6 learners.
Training Bootcamp
The Training Bootcamp is an intensive full-time program that runs 40 hours per week for 3 months onsite. Learners will be subject to intensive training, coaching and mentoring while under the supervision and tuition of qualified Water Industry Trainers with decades of experience. Both delivery, practice and simulated exercises will be conducted to prepare work-ready operators. It is offered both Publicly and Privately as a delivery method, with the most recent Bootcamp successfully delivered for a Private Bootcamp at Seqwater in 2024.
Bespoke Training
Think you might need something more tailored or are the options not quite suiting you?
Bespoke training might be the answer.
This method is most commonly used for large programs of training or for training groups with a more difficult coordination effort.
It is most commonly used for face-to-face training where learner sizes are small and spread across different areas. This method is popular for Councils and Council Regions, or groups were learner groups are small and spread.
We have successfully run many Bespoke Training programs, recently wrapping up on the Mackay Water Industry Worker Program.
Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfer
As a standard, all Registered Training Organisation’s (RTOs) provide Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer as options for achieving skills and knowledge that you have already acquired.
Recognition of Prior Learning is a method of achieving competency by supplying evidence of skills and experience you have already obtained. To do this, Simmonds & Bristow provides learners with an “RPL Kit”, describing a list of evidence that learners need to supply to be able to be assessed as competent in that unit of competency.
Credit Transfer is recognition that you’ve previously completed a unit of your course through VET or higher education.
To receive a credit transfer for a unit you must provide formal evidence that you’ve previously completed the unit or a unit which matches in content and outcome. Formal evidence can be a qualification certificate or transcript, statement of attainment or your USI transcript. When credit is recognised, you don’t need to repeat training or assessment for that unit.
