QLD Training Awards 2023 – S&B’s Regional Finalists
Simmonds & Bristow would like to congratulate our Liz Millan & Kimberley Kerby who were selected as Regional Finalists in the VET Teacher or Trainer of the Year for the Queensland Training Awards 2023.
Both Liz & Kim were nominated early 2023 by the S&B team, recognised for their efforts in supporting the regional and remote communities in Queensland, by delivering water industry training to up and coming operators in need.
Liz was nominated for her extensive work delivering onsite training to the Remote Area Planning & Development Board Water & Sewerage Alliance (RAPADWSA) which saw 12 new learners across four participating and 9 communities upskill in our industry.
Liz was also recognised by our team for her innovations over the past couple of years, helping develop and see through the implementation of online and virtual training delivery methods. The implementation of these delivery methods helped us combat the effects of COVID on scheduled training, and now continue to prove a valuable resource with hundreds of new learners able to partake in Water Industry Training all across Australia.
Thank you Liz for your dedication to delivering training in the water industry and looking forward to what else you might be able to achieve in future.
Congratulations are also due for the other two nominated Regional Finalists for the Metropolitan Region – Andrea Smith and Leah Cremen, with the award going to Leah Cremen for her work at Calamvale Community College.
Kim Kerby was also successful in her nominations in the Queensland Training Awards and progressed through to be a North Coast Regional Finalist.
Kim was nominated for her work delivering networks training to the North Coast & Central Queensland region. Kim is the head trainer for the Water Industry Worker’s program and has been delivering training to 12 local council groups from multiple communities along the Queensland coastline with help from the rest of the training team.
This program has been running since 2019 and aims at delivering Certificate III in Water Industry Operations for networks (reticulation and sewer) training to support and strengthen the skills of council water industry employees – through both skills gap training, upskilling for existing workers and helping qualify new employees.
Thank you Kim and congratulations for your success in making it as a Regional Finalist. Congratulations also to the other nominees David Bradford and Jenny Nichols, and best wishes to David who progresses on to the State Finals.
We are proud to have had the opportunity to recognise our exceptional trainers for their efforts in supporting the regional and remote communities in Queensland and delivering training to the up-and-coming and existing members of the water and wastewater industry.
Both of our trainers have proved themselves to be attentive and impactful with their training delivery and are highly valued in our company and our industry.
We look forward to the opportunity to continue to support them in future.
